Pramod Dhal is a multifaceted personality whose life brings together public service, law, wildlife, photography, and literature. A former Indian Navy serviceman, retired Senior Superintendent of Customs & Central GST, lawyer, ornithologist, wildlife photographer, writer, and columnist, he has pursued diverse professional and creative interests with remarkable dedication.
Pramod Dhal spent 15 years serving in the Indian Navy, followed by 25 years in the Department of Revenue, Government of India. His long association with public service gave him an opportunity to witness government functioning, administration, and public affairs from close quarters. Alongside his professional responsibilities, he continued to nurture his passion for nature and wildlife. His interest in wildlife photography has taken him across India, including major national parks and tiger reserves. Over the years, he has documented numerous birds and wild animals, with a particular interest in India's tiger population. He has photographed 65 individual wild tigers, including tigers in the unique ecosystem of the Sundarbans.
