Ven. Dhammagaveso Bhante is a respected Buddhist monk and meditation teacher known for his calm demeanor, compassionate approach, and deep dedication to the Dhamma—the teachings of the Buddha. Rooted in the Theravāda tradition, Bhante's journey into monastic life began with a sincere desire to understand suffering and the path to true peace.
Originally from India, Bhante began his spiritual journey over a decade ago and spent time studying and practicing in Thailand, a country known for its rich monastic tradition. His monastic name "Dhammagaveso" means “seeker of truth” or “one who searches for the Dhamma”, which beautifully reflects his purpose: to explore and share the timeless wisdom of the Buddha.
Bhante is a practitioner and teacher of Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM), a method that emphasizes the development of both samatha (tranquility) and vipassanā (insight), in harmony. This approach focuses on cultivating mindfulness, letting go of distractions gently, and maintaining a heart full of loving-kindness (mettā). Currently residing in or connected with Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Bhante shares his knowledge through retreats, talks, and meditation sessions. He offers guidance to both beginners and experienced practitioners—encouraging a life of ethical conduct, calm awareness, and compassionate action.
In addition to his in-person teachings, Ven. Dhammagaveso Bhante actively supports online meditation communities, making the Dhamma accessible across India and beyond. Through virtual sessions and Dhamma talks, he shares the Buddha’s teachings with clarity, compassion, and simplicity. Known for his humble lifestyle, gentle speech, and deep understanding of the suttas, Bhante connects with both beginners and experienced practitioners. For him, Buddhism is not just a philosophy but a way of life—a path of mindfulness, kindness, and inner freedom. Bhante's presence reminds us that peace is possible when we turn inward, observe with awareness, and live with wisdom in accordance with the Dhamma.
